Bars and Guitars

Tap and tabs overflowing
escaping from everyday life
you come home undergoing
a feeling of safety from the night life
you feel lost in the hustle
wishing you never left her at home
for one moment of bustle
with freedom you need not to comb
so one day you wake up
and realize what's it all for
quietly you stumble to stand up
as you walk into the door
she prays this will expire in her memoirs
for she stays true to her vows
her competition is bars and guitars
his is growing up from the drowse

So pleased to have found this gem of yours, Angela. Bars and Guitar is a so apt title for the poem that follows it..

I enjoyed this poem very much indeed and the lines 'for she stays true to her vows, her competition is bars and guitars, his is growing up from the drowse' so creatively explained - they have to work things out! Hugs and blessisngs, Jennifer.

Hello Angela … bars and guitars can offer false security and comfort, but then the barman shouts time, so the reality resurfaces in the morning - nicely written Angela - Lindsay

For some reason this poem reminds me of "With a Little Help from My Friends" by the Beatles, though I prefer the Joe Cocker version. ~ Regards // paul

Thank you, Paul. I like both versions, but the Beatles version a little more ;)

You evoke emotions hard to achieve. Thus you face stiff competition. Will love solve the problem? Excellent poem. ~~
