Barren

Hollow dreams attack her sleep
As she listens to her fears
The images of a stillborn child
Wake her in a pillow of tears

Only three months pregnant
But two before, had died
"It's gonna happen again." she said
As she woke her husband and cried

He tries his best to comfort her
But she will not be consoled
The chances this time are greater
For she's now past forty years old

Her youth somehow betrayed her
Barren, thu her early years
Her hopes of holding a newborn child
Hopelessly, disappears

Awakened again, the very next night
With the cries, of his wife pleading
"Please!" she says, "This can't be happening!"
For once again, she's bleeding

He holds her tightly, in his arms
And tells her it will be okay
As the child that lived inside her
Once again, has passed away

Very sad. Sounds like it's time to consider adoption.

Dude.....that sucks. It's a great poem, but that situation in life sucks. Good capture, but I hope she can find peace. Tony
