Barrage of Lies

The result of your destruction
the bane of my plight
was buried in the muddy earth
just tryin’ to win this fight
I hate that I kept faltering
between my own convictions
your sordid ways were always sure
to add to the affliction
I don’t think that you ever cared
but you knew wrong from right
defeated by your endless lies
I left without a fight
I’d rather live in solitude
without a compromise
than dwell within the boundaries
of your barrage of lies

Lies break up more relationships! You can work with the truth. Good one, Gayle!

Wow, I could have sworn I commented on this poem. I know I did...well, here goes again. I asked how can a poem with such an angry theme be so much fun to read? I believe it is the cadence of this piece, it feels songlike, albeit a sad song, but still fun to read. Really nicely done Gayle.

Thank you Anne-Marie. Writing is the best 'anger management' for me :D
