Balm
I do not feel the words inside
only emptiness and defeat,
emotions took a downward slide
and my heart does barely beat.
How can I put the lines in ink,
with my head in pain and shock?
Caught in quicksand the letters sink,
my thoughts do cruelly mock.
My quill is poised but nothing flows,
my future has turned bleak,
I suffer many highs and lows,
though justice I still seek.
My sons, I fight to get them back,
from fiend and a confused mom,
I'll employ every legal attack,
to find my heart a balm.
Then the words will come to me,
and fill the emptied pages,
will roll like waters to the sea,
and calm my angry rages.
[NOTE: and I did! Wasn't easy and the toll was immense, but in the end I prevailed and I was given the thing I wanted most, under much better conditions than I or anyone else around here could have imagined. But during the events, this little poem slipped out, and I kept it.]
