Baking With Kids
There's nothing better
Than teaching kids to cook
You must be mentally prepared
And know how the kitchen is going to look
Pouring any liquid
Into a measuring cup
Should just be done on the kitchen floor
It makes mopping a quick clean-up
A sifter full of flour
Can be as bad as snow storm
Keep aim over the bowl
Remember, the oven is getting warm
Sugar is always heavier
Prepare to catch the sack
Eggshells are mandatory for first timers
That are just learning how to crack
Get on your rain gear
Cover the counters well
Kids always pull the mixer out
When they turn and have something to tell
Hold the bowl for them
As they scoop it all in a baking pan
Let them open the oven door
Careful they don't burn their little hand
Heat from the oven
Always brings a, "Wow!"
Every five minutes
"Is it done now?"
Forty five minutes
Seems like years to them
But next time they bake a cake
They will remember when...
They made their first one with you
