Bail

Bail

Walking down the street
Jogging nor leaping
Our hope is given a little threat
By them entrusted the essence of our being

"...Your friend" is made to be their slogan
Truly it is to romance our purse
Even without guilt, just for their gain
Making us criminals in our house

Relations and friends in innocence
Are made to run from pillar to pole
For liberty to be made in praise
Yet obtaining from our purse is our friends' goal

Liberty is free in law
But frustration they make in making us pay
Yes, we do in ignorance of the law
Encouraging them feast on us all day

....."your friends", oh our friends
Of what good is a parasite friend
Incarcerating those presumed innocent?
For the benefit of their purse

Bail
They said you're free
Yet our beloved delight in jail
Not their will but the law that fails to agree

The worse is the court
Our hope, lord and strength
That verification must be supported with naira notes
Else, prosecutors will not make it fly

Presumption of innocence, not in their watch
Why the need for the law of bail?
That's the essence both courts and "our friends" never catch
Making the presumed innocents suffer liberation in jail

Many households are in disarray
For the loss of loved ones to "our enemy-friends"
Encouraging greed that persist to the gray
And the government turn unconcerned eyes

Who will save the innocent from the predators
Roaming around to be "our friends"?
As all roads blocked for a possible liberation
Leaving us with no options for solutions

Speak, I say speak out!!
Else "our enemies and friends"
Will keep feeding on us being ignorants
It's the law that bail is free and all must obey it.
