Back In The Fight
After years of licking my wounds and laying low
Returned to give another go as I restart my inner drum
As I mentally prepare, I comb over my new scars
Their ugliness is a testament to new wisdom
Restarting the reactor with aftermarket parts
I pray I don’t fail where I last fell into hell
Like Paul I hope I am deserving of a second chance
A late bloomer with mostly humbleness to sell
My wings are rusty but I long for the blue skies
A fighter who is now equally afraid of victory
If God provides such unforeseen gifts to me again
This aging man will not roam the earth again carefree
For I was not ready before for what was meant to be
I cry out to the heavens that I am ready for thee
