Baby Wishes

Precious, life sustaining oxygen flows
no longer; linking chord tethering me
severed, I lie upon hard cold table.

I see cloudy images--a table
holds my angel mother. Sweet red blood flows
from soft nurturing nest once holding me.

Mommy, don’t discard your babe. Look at me!
Life can be saved. An abortion table
Should not separate with death our love flows.

Love flows away. Save me from this table.

this is such an original and hard hitting take on the theme, I would've placed it much higher! you've managed to say a lot with such a short, restrictive form; those first two stanzas are particularly strong - congrats on your win!

OMG. this one is SO different and it's SO good. I am surprised it is below mine on the list. Or hopefully it is at least same number placement as mine. What a powerful poem!!

Beautifully thought provoking poetry, I think that the soul turns the page, and then moves on to the next sentences...Keith.

I have often wondered what the soul thinks in this circumstance. Very powerful poem, Faye. You have given a voice that is rarely heard. Quite thought provoking, my friend..... Robert.
