Baby Sister
baby sister
she's as tiny as a pea
this pretty baby I used to
bounce upon my knee
her big brown eyes
and high pitched laugh
were as beautiful as she looked
when she started to dance
this kid could melt icebergs
with just one glance
gifted with intelligence
and such a cute frame
she grew into a woman
this town could not contain
she spread her adult wings
and flew far away
becoming a doctor
such a lovely lady she became
making her big sister gush
about how our family is so proud
to have been given this little angel
this baby and her twin to raise somehow
I want to keep her close to me
to protect her now as I did then
I wonder if loving someone so much
could ever be thought of as a sin
I want to keep her from harm's way
not allowing anyone to mistreat her
and praising Jesus everyday for giving her life
this little girl, my baby sister
