Baby Girl
Baby Girl, the day that you were born
Began my greatest task.
To think of all the answers
To the questions you would ask.
I used to wonder what I'd say
To the questions of love and life.
What words would make you understand
I'm a mommy but not a wife?
Baby Girl, I used to pray at night
And ask the Lord above
"Please help us through another day.
Please bless this mother's love."
As time goes on and I watch you grow,
I see you watching me.
I know that in this big, big world,
I'm the world you see.
I smile when you start asking questions
And that is because
If I don't have the answers
You'll ask God or Santa Claus.
