Baby
sweet sweet the baby's breath
on cheek on shoulder on breast
small in you daddy's big strong hands
smaller still near his chest
he holds us both and we rest
so tired
days winding out as you grow
hours to days to weeks now
slow slow slow
your daddy never tires he walks
until you are fast sleeping
then he takes me too, and rests me under
places I cant remember keeping
we step outside wrapped in quilts
faces to the new spring sun
no green, only gusts of air and time
until we are undone.
