Babies
Human babies surly are the most helpless creatures of them all,
born without ability and dependent on a breast,
born before our memory,
and all we do is rest,
our heads oversized,
and unaware at best
some animals take in territory,
we shut our eyes and cry,
while others have mobility
the human baby lies
a head the neck cannot support,
no clear instincts, no clear thoughts,
lacking something of the wild
we don't have a first resort
the instant animal awareness
appearing years after we're born,
eventual we roll and crawl,
limited by our physical form
we don't have the strength of monkeys
and their brains are doing more
when we're born we're complete numpties
useless to our very core
over time we grow and become much more
but many don't, of that I'm sure,
