Awelewa
Ip don't know many things
I don't know the first step of the pleasing wind
I don't know where the sun goes when the stars
sparkle at night
I do not know where the flowing river stops
But I know the joy that abounds in the tired eyes
of a mother when she hears the first cry of her
new child
I know that feelings in the heart when tears and
smiles collide in the face
I know the sweetness of that undiluted palm-wine
when the drinker licks his lips
These are what dance and prance in my heart like
a school of dolphins in the sea
These are the reasons why eternity with you
would wear on so quickly
These are the reasons my lips love to glue like a
leaf around a soap to your well carved lips
Awelewa,
Beautiful you are like the sky in its undisturbed
manner
Your smile, like a light, illuminate the darkest
part of my existence
Awelewa,
where is that archer
that could pluck the stars with a single shot?
A necklace of stars, i long to adorn your neck
with
Tell that great hunter
To bring me the skins of the tigers
On them, you'll be walking about like a princess
that you are
Awelewa
