Awakening

Dark is the night when no star shines;
Deep is the fright when darkness dines.

Dark is the day when light feeds dark;
Deep is the stray that kills fine spark.

Dark is the soul lost in the mire;
Deep is the hold of evil fire.

Dark is the man lost in the heat;
Deep is the span in haze and peat.

Dark is the life lost in the world;
Deep is the strife in maze and swirl.

Dark is the time when all seems lost;
Deep is the grime in barren cause.

Dark is the taste that plunder flings;
Deep is the waste yet grace now springs.

Awaken now to change of heart;
Grace cheers endow to bless new start.
