Awakening

AWAKENING I stood in the green, green grass Unaware, and my mind a void When I felt a breeze spring up Like a gentle kiss across my skin And almost like a surprise gift Filled my head and also my heart With bounteous hope and love Such that I never had felt before Awakened, leaving despair behind Yet unclear who or what to thank My purpose as a sharpened blade Now pointing in a new direction In gratitude, I thank the breeze
