Awakening

“What is this strange place we find ourselves in Trapped in the open, we are free within” ---------- Trapped out in the open By hope beyond hoping, Desperately groping Down passages sloping: We've been here before. We're faintly perceiving, Our senses deceiving, Till monsters, we're seeing Arriving and leaving Behind every door. Is there a spoon, or what? Not easy to rebut. Foregoing quick shortcuts, Change deep inside of us Awakens, wants more. So, blue or red pilling? Be blind and unwilling And settle for shillings, Or find that life's thrilling, With much to explore! ————— for The Matrix Poetry Contest sponsored by Unseeking Seeker Written 03/23/2022

This would have been enough to win a contest "We're faintly perceiving, Our senses deceiving, Till monsters, we're seeing Arriving and leaving Behind every door." The rest was gravy on this well seasoned potato.

I know nil about the contest or the movie... but I can tell you that as a stand-alone poem, Jeff, this hits me as quite profound: A fascinating exploration of the inner world. Thanks, gw

Ah, I think you are on to something here, Jeff. I had a rough time with this contest, so I went out of this world!

I didn't see the movie, although I've been told many time I should've. I'm not into those kinds of movies, actually. I like frothy musicals!!!

I’ve put that one off for a while, had a hard time too, had a bit of a struggle connecting the quote and the movie
