Awakened

From a deep sleep you
suddenly awake
You blink your eyes and try to
get your mind straight
The room is pitch black and the moonlight is beaming through
the window pane
Like clockwork you hear the
sound of a distant train
The bible still in place right
beside where I lay my head
It stays there always to
be touched and read
It's a comfort and security
and at a hands reach
For it is one item dear to my
heart that I always keep
Blinking your eyes to try and
clear the haze
You then think hard to
remember the day
Up to the restroom and
a glass of water to wet
your mouth
You climb back into your
bed and off to a slumber
you are out
Mind is calm and blessings
are thanked for to the man
upstairs
For one day soon, I know
I'll be there
