Awake

Awake, my soul! Awake, harp and lyre! I will awaken the dawn.

Psalm 57:8 NIV

How marvelous to arise from the bedsheets
to sing, O my soul…to awaken the psaltery.

To awake the strings, those melodic strums
of pleasantry, O my heart…to lighten the dusk.

Wake up, O Dawn, I see you in your glory dress.
Sweet sunlight wipes the stars from your eyes.

Awake! Awake…my glee, I’m a child of the King.
Do not the robins, bluejays, and doves sing for me?

Awake, O my soul! Awake! I hit my beat
as my feet dance in the bedroom street.

Lovely penned, Kim... No coincidences in life, but last week this psalm of King David's appeared on a page of Talmud I was reviewing, in which he asks God if he isn't a pious king compared to all the others? -- for David rises at midnight to sing God's praises, while the others sleep until the 3rd hour of the morning, i.e., about 8:00 or 9:00 a.m. And there you go! ~ Gershon
