Awaiting Sands

Tumultuous thoughts
mired in mind
borne in haste and wilt
oft trouble their way
with heavy stray
anxious in silence
risk the words unsaid
unlike other words
in tender song
when rhythm and rhyme
are wed
Whether speak
or not speak
write or wait
to mellow the grate
Heavy is the heart
that weighs every word
then remands
to pen unwinding
in drifts of awaiting sands
