Avian Visit

Two wayward pigeons settled
On the A.C. right outside.
Nine stories up, they strutted
With no place for them to hide.

We were surprised to see them;
They’ve not visited before.
Perhaps they meant to stop off
At a slightly lower floor.

I didn’t mind their presence
But my husband did, so “Shoo!”
One tap against the window pane
And off those pigeons flew.

I love all birds, but pigeons for some reason seem ominous like ravens and hawks. Does not mean I would scare them off but their leavings are vile so your husband probably was justified. Nicely done.

Pigeons are free-loaders in every sense of the word. Your husband's actions saved your air conditioner as well as the laundry and drycleaner bills of all the pedestrians who walk beneath your air conditioner! Happy to hear he is up and about! Aloha! Rico

Thank you, Rico! They can be annoying but they’re part of the city and I kind of like them...

Sounds like those pigeons were trying to stage a coo. I bet they flew off to put down a deposit on a new car. Hugs ~ John

Thank you, Jan! My husband is getting better every day and, if I don’t catch it, we should be in the clear by next week. Fingers crossed...

I was actually nervous about your reaction, Maureen! I’m a bird lover, too, but he was afraid they’d decide to build a nest up there. I think that would have been cool...
