Autumnal Abecedarian
Autumn is a time we remember.
By recalling the beauty of September
Cascading kaleidoscopic tints and hues,
Delight us with daily changing views.
Enchanting summer days begin to change
Fast. Befitting this seasonal interchange,
Greens give way to orange, red and yellow,
Hustling away summer - a period mellow,
Impatiently unable to keep it around longer.
Just as Fall colours begin to get stronger,
Keen northern winds growing fiercely bold,
Loosen leaves, that lose their tenuous hold.
Making haste, they seek a winter hideaway.
Not inclined to hang around, they scurry away
Out of the wind’s searching reach!
Picking a calm and sheltered spot, each
Quietly settles to form drifts deep.
Residing with others, there they’ll sleep
Snugly until winter’s snow departs.
Then Spring returns, and the cycle starts
Up again. But adored and revered September,
Vibrant colours of your stay, we’ll remember
Well, when wind driven snow, replaces rain!
Xmas nears, and whilst we’ll celebrate again,
You are the month, that foretells the winter scene.
Zestful a month such as you, is seldom seen!
