Autumn Inferno

Far glistering thunder
trough roaring air.

A steeple chase of towering clouds
growing high from a tranquil sky.

Inferno of nature's voices
echoes from far above.

Early autumn spreads its wings,
embracing golden fields
and silent emerald meadows.

Excellent imagery, Gert! I like the way you describe the approaching storm as a "steeple chase of towering clouds." Now please send some of that rain to bone-dry Florida. Great poem! Love, carolyn

Interesting and descriptive Autumn write. Thanks for your reading my poem "Pondering". It was written from a picture for Brian Strand's contest. I thought about my mother's mother who 5 children ages 12 to 6 months when her husband died. Then I thought about an uncle who served in WWI and came back disabled and drew a small pension so put the two together to fit somewhat the time period of the picture. Also, as a mother of three and the concerns I had when they were young. Keep writing. Sara
