Attention Smokers

Attention smokers – come on down! We’ve got vaccines for you! Just push those older folk aside And front-line workers, too. Like cancer patients, you deserve To jump the Pfizer lines; Ignore those teachers waiting, With their “We should come first” whines. So what if you brought on yourselves The damage to your lungs? You need the shots because of it – Ignore those wagging tongues. Please thank New Jersey’s leader For he’s moved you up the list Despite so many left behind Who are, quite rightly, pissed.

Come on, smokers. Come on down. We'll stick a needle... under your gown. ~ OUCH! That'll learn 'em. ~ Mister Pisseder

The smokers get to go first? Weird. It seems like a juxposition to me.

Wow, sounds like things are very unfair in my birth state of NJ. The health care providers have to come first. Did NJ's governor really say smokers deserve to be vaccinated in the first round? That's just not right, Ilene...

I smoked 2-4 packs per day for 35-years and couldn't help but laugh! The Constitution claims we are equal, but government continues to insist some are more equal than others. As government can prohibit smokers from lighting up in their own home, it seems unreasonable to me that people are still permitted to wander about sans facemask spreading COVID-19 willynilly! In Hawai'i, the priority is the wealthy, followed by healthcare workers, then wealthy seniors, so I am well back of the queue!

And those that look after ourselves not abusing our bodies get shoved to the back of the queue. The new normal I suppose. Tom

I had not heard about this. So shocking! Ilene, your poem is really well-written, using irony superbly. Janice

So many things these days make no sense. It's as if the world has been turned upside down. I always enjoy your spoofs, Ilene.
