At Times Like These

I wish to God that I could be
All things a Dad is meant to be
The Heart and Soul inside of me
Cries out in pain and misery

Your future happiness I vowed
I'd guide you through the endless crowd
How much I dreamed I'd make you proud
At night i scream my prayers aloud

Too often I've been overwhelmed
I'm not the captain at the helm
My life distraught, my past I've penned
Both judge and jury, I'm condemned

To hold you close and feel you breathe
Fulfil your hopes and every need
To love you, more than selfish greed
Shall be my one and only creed

Abound with strength, with grace, with poise
My faith in you might steer your choice
Above lifes screams and deafening noise
One day the world will hear your voice
