At the Next Bend

Life may seem a long stretch of highway
but be extra careful and especially wary
for the road that extends ahead of you
may not be straight as you well know.

What really awaits we just can never tell,
there could be blessings but maybe hell;
perhaps success or failure, bane or boon,
far beyond the mysterious, blue horizon.

Unseen by the naked eye at the next bend
is where your journey could abruptly end;
beware of unpleasant shock and surprise,
never look way too far, be alert and wise.
