At the Lake With My Buddy
I give her full credit for my stamina and health
Look forward to starting my day with our daily gait
Both of us are outdoorsy girls
Wherever we go, we are enthusiastic voyagers
The lake calls us through its blue waters
We walk on its levee witnessing many marvels
Fresh blowing winds give us goosebumps
Brings delight, a beautiful sight of a few swimming honkers
We spot a great blue heron standing tall like a statue
She watches it carefully with a quite curious attitude
Some enthusiastic fishermen are using their skills
Moving their boats in the lake finding daily catches of fish
She loves to run free on levee’s wide path
Sniffing scents of lost hidden balls in rock walls
We cross paths with a few dog ramblers
I put her on leash again to avoid complicating matters
Cool waters of lake attract her the greatest
She finds a stick to direct me to play a game of fetch
Plunging into water to bring back the stick
Tireless game she adores to play without getting sick
Geese and ducks watch her from swaying far away
They don’t dare to disturb this entertaining play
After quite a few rounds of throw and fetch, she is satisfied
We decide to turn around to go home with content mind
With drenched fur, panting body and wagging tail
The duo starts walking back to complete the day’s tread
