At the Ending

At the ending of the day
When night’s shadows fall so gray
Twill see the darkness of the night
Until the break of morn’s new light

When the sun sets behind the cloud
I’ll wrap myself up in my shroud
For where has all my reasoning fled
Could it have flowed out when my heart bled

When my husband broke my heart
And then my life all fell apart
Twas the beginning of the night
At the ending of the day’s light

I tried to make this marriage last
But all my efforts are in the past
Divorce is now my final step
I’ve finished crying out for help

So now night’s shadows have fallen gray
Tis at the ending of the day
At the beginning of the night
So far away from morning’s light
