At Some Point In Time

As surely as the sun rises,

one's compelled to wonder

if their rapacious cruelty,

their imperial hubris

isn't simply

the result of their past suffering ...

Nonetheless, what remains lacking

is their reciprocal regard

for everyone else's plight.

The centre at the heart of all things must hold.

Time runs out.
