At Home In the Sky

Bird of prey soars through the air
rising on graceful wings.
Searching over the valley green
the song of the hunter it sings.

Possessing a beauty all it's own
with black wings poised in flight,
it's eye so keen for distant prey
is this phantom of air borne might.

Gliding along on currents of wind
as the skater glides on ice,
seen for a moment then suddenly gone,
you might not have a chance to look twice.

One more wonder creation possesses,
this hunter at home in the sky.
It fits within God's grand design
as it reigns majestically on high.

I think of an eagle when I read this write. As I once wrote in one of my own poems, 'Imagine being an eagle, confident in flight, majestically peering over our great nation. A picture of strength, a mighty hunter at best, powerful in every way known'. Love this write.
