At Home

AT  HOME

Bestockinged foot gently begins to push
Big sleeping cat across the polish
Bright of the floor - doesn’t even wake to purr.

Baby turns and twists  in high-chair and fusses;
Brother catches the bottle of formula
Before it tumbles and falls.

Dinner dishes in the sink wait
Delayed, to be wiped and washed:
Dripping faulty faucet leaves plates wet.

Snow outside silently masking
Softly  the landscape’s  imperfect make-up,
Smoothing deeper and wider the snow’s mass

…………………………………………………………………………..

Note

This is a rhyme scheme I have devised … the first and final
words of each line in a stanza begin with same consonants

I enjoyed reading your poetry this morning Sidney. I hope you have a wonderful weekend. I am going to see if I can write something for a couple contests this weekend. Hope you find the inspiration to do the same. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you and yours. Love, Carol
