At Goodbye

It's a little bit like magic
or counting falling stars
One minute it's there
and it takes a second to
                   disappear

And you blink
and wonder
if comets fall forever

Or if angels snatch them
from the sky

It seems all you remember
is Polaroids
are frozen at goodbye

You see, Summer comes and goes
and Winter strips
the color from the sky

Like love is always lost
at goodbye.
