At a Poetry Reading In Brooklyn
The poets begin to arrive
at the diner
where readings have been held
for over thirty years
Men and women
young and not so young
gather to share their words
The readers(including myself)
step up one by one
and face the crowd
Laughter and applause
for the wordsmiths work
Seeing old friends
Trading chapbooks
Brooklyn , New York
is not often thought of
as a cultural Mecca
But at least for one night a month
The Brooklyn Renaissance
continues to flourish!
