Astray
Seems the world has changed today
Have we all just gone astray?
As someone’s child lay’s dead on the corner
Is now the time to start this terrible horror?
We are quick to judge and point our finger,
Ready to point the gun, and pull the trigger.
A child has died, we know not why,
Yet the riots start and the families cry.
Before the truth is even known,
People arrive and the stones are thrown.
They provoke anger and spread the cancer,
Even before, we are given an answer.
Now the city becomes a war zone
And the families sit all alone.
As the tears are fresh upon their cheeks
They come forward and of peace they speak.
Their time to mourn has been denied,
Because your war has taken stride.
As you’re burning your city to the ground,
Remember not everything can be turned around.
So don’t let the memory of their son,
Be of a war that can never be won.
Put away your anger, stop this fight,
Don’t let others control your plight.
Their child has died, they know not why,
They just need to mourn and cry.
