Astir
Cinqopet
Upon the path I walk tonight,
Beneath the pale and silver light,
The world appears so very white.
A delicate snowy scene,
Serene, almost like a dream.
The wind has started up a song,
It sings of things that went along,
The winter days are growing long.
I watched the bare branches high,
Touch the cold and moonless sky.
My little horse must think it strange,
To stop without a farm in range,
No other travelers exchange.
The lone sound is a soft sweep,
While the world is fast asleep.
I feel a call to linger here,
To face my future without fear,
To hold the moment very dear.
I have promises to keep,
Before my gentle long sleep.
I know the journey has no end,
Around each curve, the pathways bend,
On forces I can not depend.
The path ahead, dark and vast,
My silent choice, here at last.
A snowflake briefs a horse’s blink.
