Ash and Echoes

the sky is a broken mirror
shattered clouds bleed rust and fire
cities kneel in hollow silence
monuments to lost empires

neon ghosts flicker in ruins
whispers hum in static breath
machines still count the fallen
long past the touch of death

veins of steel snake through the dust
choked on war’s forgotten cries
a child hums an unknown anthem
as the last star fades and dies
