Ascension

Crystal blue ice cold water
at the glaciers edge

As I traverse the ridgeline, climbing closer,
 just one more little ledge

My path is wrought with obstacles,
many burdens in my way

I focus my energy, higher still,
I will reach the peak today

Once the summit is reached, I sit alone
and bask in the icy glow

Confident that I did it myself,
for me and not the show

As I climb back down from my success,
my goal being achieved

I know in my heart that I can do this
for which I am relieved
