As the quiet night awakes me
Catching my shallow breath
My heart cries lonesome sorrow’s plea
As tears roll silent death

You are gone away now
To wars and soldier’s vows
My heart lies disavowed

Come home in dreams so tenderly
As the quiet night awakes me
