As the Grass Grows
Listen to poem:
As The Grass Grows
David J Walker
Protector of everything
Growing
In a backyard garden
Knowing
The heartless grass will
Take over
In an afternoon left
Unattended
Grass grows
As the wind blows
Everywhere and
Nowhere
And no one knows
why or where
it is wanted
And unwanted all
At once
As the guardian of
The garden
I am tasked to watch even
The grass grow
And no matter how slow
We will say
Too fast
