As the Dream Fades
Perhaps it is inevitable
interpretation of the constitution negligible,
what you've read
is a dream forgotten as we bleed;
the soldiers in the ranks
randomly receive our thanks,
and fool hearty presidents
interrogate every bill of right precedent
thinking and saying we should leave
when questioning alone is ill-perceived.
In the voices of the house
some think the people should be quiet as a mouse
and yet the very stones on which we stand
drip with the blood of braver woman, child and man.
America could be great again
when we embrace the people freedom's gained
fought and died for over and over again
now is when we need another John McCain
where is the plan and cabinet of smarts
lost to the dream that rose now dies in our hearts?
