Notes About The Poem

Song

As Sunlight Slides Behind the Hill

Sad memories to past belong,
as sunlight slides behind the hill
she thinks of what has come and gone,
how love once lived so very strong
but ended young by war’s sharp prong~
she longs for her lost lover still
and hears the call of their heart song
as sunlight slides behind the hill!

This is a beautifully poignant piece, Chetta. The repeating line "as sunlight slides behind the hill" effectively grounds the poem's emotion, perfectly mirroring the fading light with the lingering shadow of a lover lost to war. Your use of consistent rhythm and rhyme carries the sorrowful narrative with such grace. A truly moving tribute to enduring love and memory!
