Notes About The Poem

As Light Recedes

You spot her passing under a streetlight shining like a dazzling star in the night. And you cannot take your eyes off of her, everything else gets reduced to a blur. She walks within shadows as she proceeds, yet you follow hope wherever it leads. And her beauty compels you to comply, fueling thoughts that can make a man cry. As the light dims, she merges with the dark, and the scene starts looking spooky and stark. And yet, you pursue her, despite your fear, though your inhibitions summon a tear. She turns around, and judging by her smile, she must have known you were there for a while. And her laugh penetrates your very soul, yet you rush ahead, aware of the toll. Holding hands with this Goddess of the night, she offers you a kiss, easing your fright. And as passions begin to boil and seethe, you gasp and nearly forget how to breathe! (Rhyme) 2/28/2017

Oh Emile your sense of foreboding is tight it's near suffocating. Thanks for your visit, and what a great write.
