As It Turns Out Jesus Was Real
As it Turns Out Jesus Was Real
By David J Walker
It turns out that my
Atheists friends were all wrong
Jesus is real
And he hangs on a cross-street
Walk don’t walk light
Downtown
Near the Salvation Army hall
Where hungry children meet
And pick crumbs from his beard
He said he had not eaten
And I fed him
That’s when his name I recalled
But they killed him
And he was gone
It turns out that
Gandhi was an angel of God
Sent from India
And took into his embrace
The children of every race
And religious belief
Of every season
And loved for loves sake
For any reason
Except hate
So they killed him
And he was gone
It turns out that Buddha
Was more than wise
In his Sutta middle path to compromise
In life’s extremes
Between good and bad
And
Young and old
Go and be bold he told them
But he died of Pork and wild truffles
And he was gone
It turns out my
Friends were all wrong
There is a light shining in
The darkness
And it comes to me
At night
In my sleep
Singing psalms
And leaving gifts of Manna
With the names of too whom it belongs
And where I may find them at dawn
I will try before
They are gone
