As I Read
As removed as I felt then
The words seemed to take voice
As I read
So casual and so gentle they begin
Assuring me of my moments choice
As I read
Now to hear so purely the words
Spoken to me from the pages there
As I read
And then we were two sharing
Those words written so long ago
As I read
Me, to be in the company of he
Who penned those thoughts in verse
And left them written there to share with me
As I read
The poet who I thought long was dead
Had left alive his voice therein
His purpose clearly was to be
To share this lovely poem with me
As I read
