As I Close My Eyes

As I close my eyes
I take a deep breath
I start to realize, there's nothing left
Of my life before, It is my past

As I exhale, into the present
I feel relief in this second
Fleeting thoughts of what's to come
No premonitions, no crystal ball
I'll take my cards as they fall

I've often, sat just to think
But never like this, this time is different
I've gotten lost in this minute

As I close my eyes
One last time
I feel it as another day dies
Faded on, into a memory
Hopefully tomorrow I can see clearly
