Gary Smith Poet Rhyme

As God Had Planned

I dreamed I found the promised land,
Where people lived as God had planned.
In honest labour they tilled the fields,
Gathered crops and shared the yield.

No threat here of annihilation,
No fanatics or warring nations.
Our good earth pollution free,
At one with nature, as it should be.

But in the morn when I awoke,
That promised land went up in smoke.
Oh but that it could have been,
I wished, that I could live that dream.
