As a Black Man Dies Innocently
As a black man dies innocently
His family sits and cries
They know he didn’t do it
But you think he lied
As a black man dies innocently
You sit around and laugh
You sit around and talk on his behalf
Yes you do it in secret but why
Are you just cowards
As a black man dies innocently
You wonder why we retaliate
There is a reason why
We don’t want to sit back
And watch an innocent man die
As a black man dies innocently
You wonder why we cry
A black man, an innocent black man, will die.
As a black man dies innocently
He sits in his trial
He listens to people call him out of his name
Then he starts to feel shame
As a black man dies innocently
Our race is buried in sorrow
As a black man dies innocently
We try to find hope for tomorrow
