Arthurian Legend Part 4

Now Sir Mordred was an evil knight
and always causing trouble and strife
He seeked to destroy Arthur’s throne
and take it from him, for his own

He was full of hate and jealousy
towards the king who became his enemy
Taught by the evil sorceress, Morgan le Fay
Arthur’s step sister, who led him astray

There was a court hearing for the Queen
but Sir Lancelot was nowhere to be seen
The judges decided to burn her at the stake
Sir Lancelot discovered his darlings’ fate
As the execution proceeded that day
Sir Lancelot swooped down and carried her away

They escaped to Brittany in France
Sir Lancelot’s home town, where he trained to lance
Now Arthur was in such a rage
he gathered his army to engage
They travelled to France in hot pursuit
ready to punish the deserted two

Now Mordred was left all alone
in Arthur’s kingdom, he took the throne
He would have inherited the whole estate
but he was greedy and couldn’t wait

He told the people that Arthur was dead
and he was now king and do as he said
He brought off the people with money and gifts
and raised an army, a rebellious rift
Now Excalibur was hidden away
but the scabbard gone, stolen by Fay

Arthur found out about Mordred’s rule
and returned from France to confront the fool
So Arthur and Mordred went to saddle
both armies’ Gathered ready to battle

But Merlin was nowhere to be found
the evil sorceress had him bound
Enclosed in a crystal cave
Unable to cast a spell to save

At Camlann they fought with spear and sword
a fierce and bloody battle, roared
The fighting lasted all through the day
high losses on both sides, bodies now lay
