Arms Wide Open

The rapidness of life sneaks up you
until you stop and breathe.
The sun rises and then sets
another day passes with nothing seized.

It's the little things we fail to do,
those moments we should have loved.
The gifts that we accept without
acknowledgement or a hug.

We mostly live in past or future
failing to soak in the present hour.
Therefore appropriate sentiments
vanish like dying flowers.

My arms are open wide
to engulf those in my life.
Making sure they know
their support helped me through strife.

Forgetting our self worth
happens more than you think.
A reminder here and there
cures our soul so we don't sink.
