Armageddon
ARMAGEDDON
When we draw our last breath
During another pandemic like Black Death
Or nowadays AIDS, ebola or others by the dozen;
When pollution of our water supply makes poison
And climate change brings drought and starvation
Regardless of faith, race, or nation;
When radiation clouds after nuclear test
By bad guys of east, or good guys of west
Causes male fertility decreasing;
While fuelless in the darkness we’re freezing
Are we still too blind to see?
As we raise the level of the sea?
Since depleted ozone gives cancer or cataract
We will all be soon be too blind to act
It will have become too late, my friends
To close the proverbial gate. It all ends
Accompanied, not by banging, but whimpering
And the sound of rats scampering.
