Notes About The Poem
Written for the Tercet "Nature" or "Love" contest. 10 syllables per line.

Aristotle The Love Guru

Imagine a message in a bottle
That gave you all the answers about love
A full picture formed by Aristotle ~~~

Eros appeals to man's carnate desires
Physical gratification thereof
When a lustful passion ignites its fires.

Philia is friendship, part of a team.
Terms of endearment include "chic" and "bruv"
Setting the standard for what teamwork means.

Storge, the kind holding deeper connection.
You hear people say they "fit hand in glove"
Creating the most lasting affection.

Ludus is playful, fun and exciting
Toy fighting, teasing and giving a shove
Learning the boundaries while you're delighting.

Mania is obsessive so beware!
This can be an unhealthy kind of love,
Abnormal behaviours behind said care.

Pragma endures, is always supportive
And such quality outshines the above
For it is there for as long as we live.

Philautia love is important too
Even acknowledged as high up as gov
It's vital for you to learn to love you!

Agape involves us all, the whole world!
By this we symbolise peace by the dove.
When we harmonise, such love is unfurled.

Touch. Service. Giving. Time. Affirmation.
Are the five languages you learn in love.
A life of love needs full dedication.

Thank you Sara, I'm having plenty of firsts at the moment. And this contest was the first tercet I'd ever written. Which set me up nicely for braving the Villanelle because I didnt understand how to go about that for quite some time. :-D enjoying learning and growing. Thank you for your congrats. Warm wishes x

Thanks Joanna. :-D I am trying to engage with forms I'm unfamiliar with and tercets is another type I've not tried before. Between contests like yours and the prompts from the poetry soup weekly challenges, there's plenty of encouragement to try. Thank you again Jo, oh and because of you setting the tercet contest, you helped me to create my first Villanelle!! :-D :-D

Great that you wrote this one about the different kinds of love. You touched on some I knew about but had never actually heard the word for them before. Way to go. It reads like a good contender for the contest. Way to go. Sara K.

Thank you, I only knew of 5. So it was interesting research. Making each point brief was a challenge as was having the same syllable count. Its the first tercet I've ever written. Was good to try as I have my go to style. So it was good to break away from that for a poem. Thanks for the lovely comments Sara. :-) all the best.
